Okay, I'll be honest here. I don't know why I was picked to participate in this program. I've looked at past recipients, their superlative resumes, impressive qualifications, and abundance of background research work and all I can come up with is 'Wow'. Not 'wow' as in 'hey, that's cool', but 'wow' as in 'wow, these people have more awards and honors than I have shoes in my closet' (which is a whole hell of a lot, in case you were wondering) ...

So this leads me to two conclusions: I'm capable and obviously some people see my potential. Or, the selection committee has a sense of humor. Either way, I'm here and I'm ready to learn.

My mentor is Margrit Betke, from Boston University. She is in the Computer Science Department and her area of research is Computer Vision, with the Image and Video Computing Group.
