Week 5
|
Monday 16, 2003 17:35 At State today. Put the
finishing touches on tutorial 4. Also, had a reading group where we went over
a draft of Dr. Williams’s proposal for something very prestigious. I can't
remember at the moment. I also spent some time working on SWTUnit. After
lunch I got a chance to ask some of the other people here about the question
Jason had for me last Wednesday. I got some really good ideas from Dright
about how to modify JUnit to allow for more output. Also met with Dr.
Williams about SWTUnit and how it won't work with what Nortel wants. I might
start working on a tenitive SwingUnit. Everyone in my office/room
took the Color Quiz today. Lynn is yellow, Dright is blue, Hema is red, and
Prashant is white for the most part, but everyone was really close on a few
colors. Tuesday 17th, 2003 20:05 Worked at Nortel today.
Spent more time on the database stuff, but this is mostly integration, or me
telling Jason how to use my code. Went to a five-minute team meeting. Todd
wasn't there and that always makes the meetings short. Told Jason about my
ideas for the stuff he wanted info about. Don't know if he thought it was
good info or not, but I did try. Remembered around 2:30 last night about an
email that contained info about Abbot and Marathon in relation with SWTUnit.
Looked them up online and discovered that they should be able to create Unit
Tests for Swing code. Even better they both have a feature that allows a user
to click on the actual program GUI to create the test. This could be very
useful so that next time all hands regression testing is done the testers can
write the tests as they test. Went home after work. I
had a softball game to go to, but I didn't b/c Dad was working late. The
softball is kind of a father/daughter thing. Had dinner with my mom and
grandmother instead. Wednesday 18th, 2003 20:15 Worked at Nortel again
today. Again more time was spent integrating the automated stuff. Also spent
more time researching Abbot and Marathon to figure out how to get one to
work. Looked at JUnit to try and modify the source code to get more output
from JUnit test cases. Major pain b/c the new class files didn't want to go
into the jar file like good little class files. Well actually they went in,
but the didn't want to replace the old ones with the proper directory structure. Left early to make sure
that I could make it in time to dinner with Dr. Williams, Dr. Anton, and
Lynn. We went to the Olive Garden. It was very yummy and a lot of fun to talk
with everyone. Found out that the keynote speaker at the Agile Development
Conference is going to be Gerald Weinberg. His book was one of the things
that influenced Dr. Anton to study Computer Science. I really want to try and
read it before I go. Thursday 19th, 2003 15:53 At State today. My days
here are always a bit less stressful. Especially since I don't have to drive
40. Last night I house sat with my friend Rebecca. I'm going to be going
again tonight and tomorrow night. I'll have to leave early Sat morning
though, because Harry Potter 5 is supposed to arrive on my doorstep that day! Worked on the website
some, then Dright and I got notes from Dr. Williams about what is wrong with
tutorials 1 and 2. Dr. Williams wasn't able to finish looking at tutorial 2
last night because she fell asleep. My tutorial is boring!!! Worked on the
changes a bit, then realized that by working on my laptop I was having
pictures that looked different then the first ones that I did on the desktop
in the lab. So I'm going to get here really early tomorrow morning to get all
the pictures looking the same and the tutorials all spiffed up. After that
I'm going to work on JUnit. Friday 20th, 2003 15:45 At State again. Worked on
fixing the tutorial picture stuff. Now all the pictures for tutorial 2 are
correct. Of course when we get the new version of Rational XDE we'll have to
change all of the pictures for the tutorials, but that shouldn't be to
difficult. Am house sitting again
tonight. It's really a lot of fun to hang out with Rebecca, especially since
we have to get organized to live together next year. I'm really looking forward
to Harry Potter arriving tomorrow! Saturday 21st, 2003 10:30 Harry Potter is here!!! 22:45 I finished Harry Potter! Wonderful book! |
