Facts:
- Born on May 13, 1981, in Nairobi, Kenya, to John and Josephine Kamunyori.
- I am the youngest child, with two elder siblings; one sister and one brother. My elder sister, Sheila, graduated from Colgate University, Hamilton, NY in May 1999 and currently lives in Bangkok, Thailand, while my big brother, Robert, lives in Baltimore, MD, and graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in May 2004 with a degree in Computer Science.
- I attended high school at Kianda School, Nairobi, and graduated in November 1998. I then went on to do the International Baccalaureate at Saint Mary's School, Nairobi, earning my diploma in November 2000.
- In August 2001, I left Kenya to attend Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY, where I am currently a double major in Computer Science and Economics. I graduate in May 2005!
- At Vassar, I lead a fairly active life. I have been a member of the Vassar College Women's Chorus since my freshman year, and am also an active member of the African Student Union. In addition, I am a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dutchess County program, and have a wonderful "little" sister in the 4th grade at Clinton Elementary School, Poughkeepsie. I also tutor a local high school student in Math (and sometimes Chemistry) once a week, and hold a job at the college's Computer Help Desk, where I have the title of Expert: Advanced. I am lucky enough to love my job and the people I work with.
- My previous research experience involves participating in the Undergraduate Summer Research Institute (URSI) at Vassar over the summer of 2003. You can read all about my research project here.
- My plans for after Vassar involve pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, and teaching at college level.
