Monday I didn't go into work because I went to Pittsburgh with my friends who had come to see me. My apartment search was a complete bust though =(. Tuesday I started with calendar objects in BRIDGE. I also helped Libby by being a subject for her pilot study. She's doing an experiment to see how people debug web applications essentially. I did a horrible job, but I guess that's not the point of the experiment. One thing I do like about work is I get to participate in everybody's studies. Wednesday morning I met with Professor Rosson, Professor Carrol and Craig about my project. It was supposed to be mainly on the research aspect of it, and I did get assigned another paper to read (yay), but we ended up discussing a lot of technical issues. CSCL meeting went by pretty quickly. I spoke about my RSS project for half of it. After the meeting I spoke with Craig a while and started to understand how it was I needed to change Calendar objects. They weren't exactly as "RSS ready" as webpages or user lists, so I kind of had to change the way they work a little.
Thursday, now my third day on Calendars, was very frustrating. I felt like I hit a wall. I was having a really hard time understanding how on earth Calendars worked, and the code just seemed so non-intuitive. Craig was leaving Friday for a conference in London for a week and was busy taking care of other stuff and didn't have much time for me =(. It was the worst moment I was having all summer basically, and I just wanted to scream. Instead I decided to give coding a break and printed out that paper I was supposed to read instead. Decided I didn't want to read either, so I instead finished fixing up the user list stuff. Craig came by a little before I left and cleared up some stuff for me about Calendars. I felt a little better, because he seemed confused at times about how they worked too. So Friday went a little better, and I understood Calendars enough to start changing some stuff about creating new items. Unfortunately I was still getting some errors when I left work (I hate stopping when my code isn't perfect) but I really had to go because Libby and I were supposed to go somewhere.
