I am a rising senior at
Carleton College,
a private liberal arts college in
Northfield, Minnesota, which also happens to be the small town where I was born and raised. I am a
Computer Science
major with a concentration in
Cognitive Studies,
and, barring any major academic catastrophes, will graduate in June of 2007. I am particularly interested in programming/software design, web design, networks, Artificial Intelligence, and some of the linguistic and neural aspects of computer science. I am spending the summer of 2006 at
Texas A&M University,
participating in the
Distributed Mentor Program.
I spent the fall of 2005 "studying" abroad at
University College Cork
in
Cork, Ireland.
Most of my time during the school year is spent playing varsity
soccer
and
softball
for the
Knights,
lab assisting, waitressing at a local pizza place, coaching a youth soccer team, co-chairing the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, watching
baseball and
soccer,
and fishing. I occasionally do homework, as well. My plans for post-graduation are, to say the least, undetermined. Currently, I am wavering between (a) returning to Ireland to "study" some more, (b) finding a job somewhere cool (ie Boston or Atlanta), (c) going to grad school somewhere in the Midwest, (d) going to grad school far, far from the Midwest, and (e) all of the above. If I ever find a five-sided coin, I'm going to take it as a sign of fate and flip away. I can be contacted at
bolane@carleton.edu.
