Application for Support to Attend Workshop

Application Information

  1. Name.
  2. Position (instructor, assistant professor, postdoc, graduate student, etc.). If a student or postdoc, please include your advisor's name and email address.
  3. School.
  4. Email address.
  5. Dates of any previous CRA-sponsored workshops on Academic Careers for Women you attended.
  6. Estimated cost of attending the Workshop, itemized if possible.
  7. Estimated cost of also attending the FCRC 2003 conference.
  8. Maximum funding support you will be able to receive from your home institution or other grants to attend the workshop and/or the FCRC conference.
  9. Number of days that you could stay and attend the FCRC 2003 conference.
  10. Indicate any other involvement you have in the FCRC conference (i.e., presenting paper, presenting a poster,...).
  11. Two to three paragraphs explaining what you see as the benefits of attending this workshop for both yourself and your institution. In particular, please address the workshop's goal of advancing career development for women in academics, specifically related to research.

Selection Criteria for Support to Attend Workshop 

Applicants will be notified of the results of their applications on May 5 (please note that early registration rates for FCRC end May 7). The three main criteria that will be used to determine who will be given financial support to attend the workshop are as follows:

  1. Applicant's contribution to the workshop's goal of advancing career development for women in academics, specifically related to research.
  2. Financial need of applicant.
  3. Maximizing the number of participants at the workshop.

  5. Applicant has not attended one of these kinds of workshops in the past five years.
  6. Applicant would be able to stay and attend some part of FCRC 2003.

Financial support will cover expenses, up to a maximum of $1,000, related to

  • travel (airfare and ground transportation. Please note: If traveling internationally, you must use only US flag-flying carriers)
  • workshop registration
  • hotel accommodations (double occupancy)
  • attending FCRC 2003 conference
