Yours Truly...

My name is Shinjini Kar, but friends call me - Jini.
I am an international student at the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. My home town is Kolkata, India. I am a Computer Information Systems and Mathematics major and this fall, I begin my junior year at the College. I plan to graduate by May 2012 and hence in my summer breaks I am trying to gain as much knowledge as possible on how graduate school is going to treat me!
School has always been an important and necessary part of my life. I value learning and enjoy being a student. But the idea of reaching beyond what the text book has to offer and exploring new concepts also intrigues me. This enthusiasm for studying what is not known yet, is the reason I am drawn to research. And therefore, here I am in the city of Fort Collins, Colorado for my summer research project at the Colorado State University.

I come from a diverse country of various colors and spices and I incorporate that diversity into myself. I am a Bengali girl from the city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. I have lived in 3 different places before coming to college and that has helped me to learn about various Indian cultures and I am glad to have been able to enjoy so much diversity from a very early age.

I enjoy reading, music, traveling and learning new things. Feel free to contact me at jini.sk13@gmail.com.

My favorite quote:
"Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game." - A Cinderella Story

...because I believe that life is lived with risks and unless we take those risks, we do not experience anything worth our time and value...
