Chief Information Officer
Miami University is searching for a Vice President for Information Technology/Chief Information Officer. Founded in 1809, Miami has a distinguished history as a prestigious public university recognized for outstanding undergraduate education and selective graduate and research programs. Its main campus is in Oxford, Ohio, 35 miles north of Cincinnati.
As one of the top-ranked public universities in the nation, this position offers a rare opportunity for a senior-level technology executive to join a dynamic leadership team. The CIO reports to President Hodge and is a member of the President’s Executive Committee. With 200 people and a budget of $20 million, the CIO has a broad organizational responsibility encompassing management and oversight of all IT services and support three campuses, the Voice of America Learning Center, and the European Center in Luxembourg.
The CIO must be an organizational leader, one who sets the tone at the top and is “restless for excellence.” A key priority is to assess and evaluate the current IT goals to ensure they align with the Strategic Goals of the University. S/he must be bright, have fresh ideas and the energy to move at a fast pace. The CIO must be able to deploy technology to raise the profile with students and other constituents of the University.
A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and at least 10 years of progressive IT experience in a large complex organization, preferably university or not-for-profit environs, are required. Other senior-level IT candidates managing large complex organizations outside of higher education will also be considered.
