While the Ph.D. degree information published by NSF includes numbers for
permanent and temporary visa holders, only temporary visa holders can be
identified among Bachelor's and Master's degrees recipients.
According to NSF, data are missing for Bachelor's and Master's degrees
granted in 1999 because "detailed national data were not released for the
academic year ending 1999 by the National Center for Education Statistics."
Degrees in a given July-through-June period are referred to by the year in
which the period ended; e.g., 2005 means the 12-month period ending June 2005.
